Vision 2018: Goodness

As a community, Bering Drive selects one or more virtues to cultivate together throughout the year. After several weeks of prayerful consideration, the virtues for 2018 is Goodness.

Dwelling in the Word for 2018

As a community, Bering Drive selects passages of Scripture to meditate on throughout our year together. Our “Dwelling in the Word” passages for 2018 are Mark 1:1-3, Psalm 25:4-5, John 10:11-14, Philippians 4:8, as we continue to focus on practicing Goodness.

Mark 1:1-3, about Jesus

The beginning of the good news of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. As it is written in the prophet Isaiah,

“See, I am sending my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way;
the voice of one crying out in the wilderness:
‘Prepare the way of the Lord,
make his paths straight.”

Psalm 25:4-5, a song of the people

Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
teach me your paths.
Lead me in your truth, and teach me,
for you are the God of my salvation;
for you I wait all day long.

John 10:11-14, from Jesus

“I am the good shepherd.

The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

The hired hand, who is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away—and the wolf snatches them and scatters them.

The hired hand runs away because a hired hand does not care for the sheep.

I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me.
